One of Koh Samui's most magnificent beachside villas. Ms. Utumporn Aupatcha is the Managing Director of one of Koh Samui's most magnificent beachside villas — Upni Duniya. The exclusive beachfront residence comprises nine luxurious suites set amid beautifully landscaped tropical grounds with an indulgent ocean view infinity pool overlooking the soft sands of Big Buddha Beach and the calming waters of the Thai Gulf. With its unique, harmonious designs and leading-edge home technology, Upni Duniya is a personalised pleasure palace that truly deserves to be called 6-star accommodation. A team of 14 dedicated staff take care of every detail and the owner looks after the management and staff team very well, so there is very little turnover. For those in search of the ultimate private island holiday home, the villa is the perfect choice to rent.  A team of 14 dedicated staff take care of every detail. We asked Khun Utumporn what makes Upni Duniya and Koh Samui so special. Why did you choose Koh Samui as a location for the villa? I have lived in Samui for a long time now and my partners and I felt that it was the ultimate location in Thailand, and indeed South East Asia, to have such a unique villa. Although it retains the charm and magic of a small island, with all of recent updates in the infrastructure and accessibility, it has become an ideal destination for people all over the world to escape to. It has become an ideal destination for people all over the world to escape to. How did you choose the villa's name? Upni Duniya translates from Hindi to “Our World”. My partners come from various places across the world and also have ties to India, as Upni Duniya is such a magical place, it just seemed to fit perfectly. What is the main inspiration behind the architecture and design? Our architect, Chris Doray, was born in Singapore, although he trained and worked all over the world, he eventually settled in Vancouver where my partners met him. Being of Asian decent he has an in-depth understanding of South East Asian architecture, but also great insight into Western sensibilities and requirements. Our interior designers, David Lees and his wife Pariya are based in Bangkok and have an extremely well respected reputation for combining the charms of Asia with the comforts of the modern world. Upni Duniya really is the perfect marriage of East and West. Upni Duniya really is the perfect marriage of East and West. Which features of the villa are you most proud of? That’s a very difficult question. Upni Duniya has so many wonderful features, but I think the thing that really sets Upni Duniya apart from most other beachfront villas is the privacy. When we built the villa, privacy was at the forefront of our minds. We built up the land to over 2m above the beach level, so that our stunning infinity edge swimming pool seems to go out into the horizon. It also means that people walking down the beach can’t see into the villa, this is very unique to us. What is a typical day like at Upni Duniya? Simply Bliss… There is nothing more to say! One of the things we recommend to most of our guests is an island tour on a speedboat. What are your favourite places and activities on Samui beyond the villa itself? One of the things we recommend to most of our guests is an island tour on a speedboat, it’s just such a fun way to see all that Samui and the surrounding area has to offer. Another great experience is a sunset cruise. It’s so romantic, sipping on champagne as the sun goes down over the horizon. A must try for all visitors to Upni Duniya. A great place to visit on the island is Fisherman’s Village. It’s one of my personal favourite places in Samui. There are so many food stalls, selling local favourites and some really unusual, and sometimes quite adventurous things! It’s a great way to get a little insight into everyday Thai life.       by
